Spain’s National Holiday Day, formerly known as Día de la Hispanidad, is celebrated on October 12 every year. The origin of the holiday dates back to the times of Alfonso XIII, when a bill was made to declare October 12 as a national holiday with the aim of commemorating the “discovery” of America.
The most outstanding event of this day is the military parade that takes place every year in the city of Madrid, in the presence of the King of Spain and different political personalities of the country. The event, where the State Security Forces parade, starts in the Plaza de Cuzco and ends in Nuevos Ministerios.
This day of rest can be enjoyed at the Castillo de Monda where you can relax.
