“Domingo de Ramos” or Palm Sunday is a Christian commemoration that celebrates the triumphal entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem, when a multitude of inhabitants received him as the Messiah and son of God. This event is considered the beginning of Holy Week. This 2025 Palm Sunday falls on April 13.
For this day, the faithful devotees of the Christian tradition usually carry palm and olive branches or other trees in their hands. To the rhythm of songs and prayers of praise, they welcome the Christian Holy Week. These branches and olive trees are blessed before the processions. After this day the Holy Week begins until Easter Sunday.
